Black Gold is a visual collaboration between Lonwabo Zimela and Bheki Mthembu. After we saw and liked each other’s work, style and photographic technique online, we had a conversation via chat and realised we both have a love for contemporary African portraiture, style and art in general.
This body of work is very experimental, there wasn’t a specific end goal for our collaboration, We hadn’t met prior to our shoot and our choice of location was the heart of the Durban CBD.
