“My name is Cole Ndelu and I am a third year student at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. I’m 21 years old, currently in my third year of studying and pursuing my degree in photography.
These images are portraits of a young man carrying a sheep head. I have interpreted the theme RAW in terms of flesh and blood. I also looked at the idea of raw in terms food and particularly food that is the product of slaughtering. My family practices slaughtering and I exist in two worlds – a traditional and contemporary wold. These images are about finding a place to fit in, the idea of belonging and not belonging at the same time.
