Charmaine Ngobeni is a South African born Illustrator and Entrepreneur. She graduated her BFA in Illustration at Parsons the New School for Design in New York. With the love for art, she and Amanda started their own Creative Agency known a Conté the Creatives Agency, where they played around with the idea of giving birth to a Magazine also named after their company, Conté Magazine.

“I have always had a Passion for the Arts and all things Creative, but I don’t think I ever could’ve imagined building my own company with the aim to solve some of the issues I’ve faced being a creative, especially in South Africa.” Ngobeni

Through Conté, they allow their readers to be involved in the creative process, to make the transition from consumer and viewer to creator and enthusiast. The Conté Team is all about changing the way people work together in the Creative industry and this is an opportunity for everyone to collaborate and grow in.

Charmaine is currently working on a new 20 piece series of Black women and their hair. This series is dedicated to every young girl who struggles with her hair and uses it to find her identity. More and more women are becoming more aware of themselves and this series is set to keep on inspiring us all to keep the momentum going, and document all our struggles and our journey. Look out for this upcoming body of work.
